By Car

Chisholme is about 6.5 miles off the A7 which links Carlisle to Edinburgh, near the town of Hawick (OS map ref: Sheet 79, 418121)

Coming from the South on the A7
: About a mile before you reach the town of Hawick, take a turn to your left over a bridge - it is signposted to Roberton (B711).

Coming from the North on the A7, or from the East: Drive through the town of Hawick, following the signs for Carlisle. Take the first right turn off the A7, which is about a mile out of town, over a bridge - it is signposted to Roberton (B711).

Follow the road into the hills to Roberton, and just as you leave the village, and once you have passed the old schoolhouse, take the left turn down the hill - it is signposted 'Beshara School' (although the signpost sometimes moves in the strong wind and points back the way you came!). This is a single-track road with passing places. Follow it down and along the valley until you come to a fork in the road. There take the left turn, (DON'T drive straight on, towards Craik Forest). The road takes you over a bridge and up the hill. As you drive up, you will pass four houses (two left and two right) and then further up the hill you will reach open moorland with a small wooded area on your left. The turn-off to Chisholme is a sharp left turn, towards the end of this wooded area. There is a blue sign by the gate into the estate.

By Air

Nearest Airports are Edinburgh and Newcastle; Glasgow is also possible, although further away. From Edinburgh airport take the Airlink shuttle bus or tram (frequent service) to the City Centre, to the main railway station (Waverley); then see instructions below for the X95 bus from Edinburgh to Hawick, or the Borders Railway as far as Galashiels. The closest bus stop to the Edinburgh Airport shuttle bus or tram drop-off point is on North Bridge Street (above the main railway station).

Pick-up from all three Airports can be arranged on request.

By Train and Bus

Bus services 95 and X95 to Hawick from Edinburgh and Carlisle. Bus timetables for services 95 and X95 can be found on the First Bus website.

In Edinburgh First Borders X95 and 95 now start from Edinburgh Bus Station, St. Andrews Square, near Waverley railway station. You can also board the bus at North Bridge. In Hawick get off at Morrisons Supermarket, Mart St. A taxi from Hawick is about £14 or phone us to see if we can collect you.

There is now a train from Edinburgh, Waverley, to Galashiels and Tweedbank, which takes  under an hour and runs every half-hour. From Galashiels you can take the X95 bus on to Hawick. A little more expensive, but a far more comfortable journey through the beautiful Borders countryside. For the Borders Railway timetable see here... or visit www.scotrail.co.uk
