Volunteer Week, April
4 April 2015 to 12 April 2015 23:59
Chisholme House, Roberton, Hawick, Scottish Borders TD9 7PH
As a volunteer at Chisholme you are appreciated for who you are, not only for what you do.
April is a great time to spend a week in the garden. It's all starting, the birds are singing, the shoots are pushing through, you can be out in the air and light at last, and get things done. And that's what this week will be about, getting things done that set it all up for the year: preparing all the ground for planting and then the big tasks, planting potatoes, planting onion setts, broad beans, peas, sowing the root crops, and lots of work in the tunnels where salads, herbs and summer crops are all in preparation. The garden gets transformed from its winter dormancy to the buzzing potential of the year ahead.
Experience the joy of living and working in a place dedicated to supporting the discovery of our own potential.
Spend a week at Chisholme, working with others in the garden and helping to get it well set up for the growing season. Activities will be varied, and work in other areas (woodland, kitchen etc.) will also take place.
In addition to working with your hands you are invited to participate in conversation and study, which give space to enquire into your own questions which may arise during your stay. You are also most welcome to join in the daily meditation sessions and other supportive activities.
Financial contributions:
A recommended donation of £70 for the week is asked for (£42 for students), which will help pay for some of the basic costs of your stay including your accommodation, instruction in new skills, all your food, tea and coffee, your laundry, etc. Additional funding comes from our Volunteer Fund.
Concessions: If you are unable to pay or cannot pay the whole amount, then please do not hesitate to write to the secretary@beshara.org, to discuss your circumstances.
If you would like to visit Chisholme and volunteer please write to the secretary@beshara.org or phone +44 (0)1450 880 215 so we can send you an application form.

Volunteers are a vital part of life at Chisholme. The School could not have been built, nor maintained over the last forty years, without the support of many dedicated volunteers.
