Volunteer Fortnight at Chisholme House, July

5 July 2014 to 18 July 2014
Chisholme House, Scottish Borders TD9 7PH

As a volunteer at Chisholme you are appreciated for who you are, not only for what you do.

Experience the joy of living and working in a place dedicated to supporting the discovery of our own potential.

Spend a week or two at Chisholme, taking part in any number of activities – from learning to build a stone wall; joining in with preparing a feast for 100; sowing, planting, weeding and harvesting; picking wild raspberries; caring for chickens and ducks; setting up yurts; working in the forest; helping to put a roof on the new barn...

A new programme is being offered for 2014. Volunteers are encouraged to come on the first Saturday of the month, for a stay of up to two weeks.

In addition to practical work in the house, garden and estate, you are invited to participate in conversation and study, and are encouraged to enquire deeper into your own questions, which may arise during your stay. You are also most welcome to join in the daily meditation sessions and other activities.

Financial contributions:
Your contribution will help pay some of the basic costs of your stay, which include your accommodation, instruction in new skills, all your food, tea and coffee, your laundry, lifts into town etc. Additional funding comes from our Volunteer Fund.

If you are a new volunteer, who has not worked at Chisholme before, the first two days are free.
After that:   £10 per day
Students:    £6 per day
Concessions: If you are unable to pay or cannot pay the whole amount, then please do not hesitate to write to the secretary@beshara.org, to discuss your circumstances.

If you would like to visit Chisholme and volunteer please write to the secretary@beshara.org or phone +44 (0)1450 880 215 so we can send you an application form.

Find out about the places you might be working in:

– the house
– the kitchen,
– the organic garden
– the forest and estate
– building and maintenance...

Volunteers are a vital part of life at Chisholme. The School could not have been built, nor maintained over the last forty years, without the support of many dedicated volunteers.
