Beshara School
We will study a translation from The Brides of The Phrases (otherwise known as The White Fusus) of a passage from the Word of Jacob that discusses that to which the Shaykh al-Akbar refers as religion in the sight of the populace. The questions it explores are:
-
What are the essential ingredients that render an action a religious act.
-
What is it that makes religion possible in the first place.
The study will be supervised by Avi Abadi. It will run from 9am to 12pm, with a break for coffee. Participants in the study will be invited to watch some film clips and an episode from Krzysztof Kieslowski's Dekalog (The Ten Commandments) the evening of Saturday 6th and will be asked to contemplate some questions in advance of the study.
Numbers are limited so booking is essential. This study is suitable for anyone interested in these questions and who has completed the six month intensive course at the Beshara School.
A donation of £20 is suggested, £10 for unwaged, including lunch following the study.
