Training Week: Facilitating the Discovering Unity Evening Class

15 February 2014 to 20 February 2014 23:59
Toorak, Melbourne, Australia

About the course: This is a weeks training and immersion in the themes of the Discovering Unity Evening class.

This is an immersive, six-day course based on an indepth exploration of some of the themes that lie at the basis of the perspective of unity. It is designed to give people who would like to run the seven week Discovering Unity Evening Class the tools to do so, as well as offering a space and time for people to deepen their own practice, understanding and experience. The course is open to all who have had some exposure to the Beshara School.

Each day will focus on one of the themes of the Discovering Unity Evening Class, whilst also exploring other elements such as mindfulness, conversation, facilitation and listening skills.

The course has four main components:

    • Conversation and in-depth discussion of themes. These themes are: Beginning from the Beginning; The One and the Many, Being and Consciousness; The Human Reality and Experience; Relationships; Closing the Shop that Sells Fishhooks; Love and Beauty.
    • Mindfulness: Mindfulness meditations form the foundational practices for the course. Mindfulness; paying attention in the present moment, non judgmentally, as if your life depended on it aligns with the concept of constancy of awareness. The course will give everyone the opportunity to facilitate a guided group meditation and enquire into what happens when we bring attention to our everyday thoughts and actions.
    • Skills: We will explore some of the key facilitating skills necessary for the course including conversation and listening.
    • Practicalities: The course will follow a daily programme of study, meditation, work and devotional practice in order to help establish a balanced and progressive path to self-discovery.

Facilitators: Peter Yiangou. Peter lives in the UK and has been involved in running and facilitating courses for many years.

Venue: Armagh, 226 Kooyong Road, Toorak, Melbourne

Times: 8.15am-4.30pm daily.
