Study Retreat Day at Chisholme

May 26, 2015 00:00 to 23:59
Chisholme House, Scottish Borders, TD9 7PH

This day course has been cancelled. If you are interested in attending a day retreat such as this in the future please contact: secretary@beshara.org

This is an invitation to study, converse, meditate and work together in the shared intention of exploring presence and contemplative action.

Meditation for anyone able to come will be at 7am. Morning study will start at 8.30am and will take an extract from Ibn 'Arabi's Fusus al Hikam as the focus. At 11 we will move into the theatre of work and action, cooking lunch and working together around the house, estate and garden in the afternoon. After tea, at 4.30, we will meet again for conversation, in the light and presence of all that has arisen during the day.

An early evening meditation will be followed by supper, and the close of the day of retreat.

This retreat day is intended for people who have some familiarity with Ibn 'Arabi's terminology and the central themes of the Fusus al Hikam.

Places for this day are limited.

Timing: The day at Chisholme will start with meditation at 7am, followed by breakfast. If you are able to come for this it would be wonderful, otherwise please arrive before 8.30am when study will begin. The day will finish after supper at about 8.30pm. Please let us know what time you intend to arrive.

Location: The location is Chisholme House, set on a beautiful estate in the moors of the Scottish Borders, an hour from Edinburgh, Newcastle and Carlisle. The site has no mobile phone reception and limited internet access.

Cost:  £25 including lunch, supper and refreshments.

Meals: The Beshara School Kitchen is set up to provide food in keeping with the spiritual and material aims of its education, including menus specifically designed for intensive retreat situations. Special diets can only be catered for where there is a medical reason.

Note on course fees: There are no standard concessions offered on most courses, because the fees are already kept as low as possible. We try to ensure the courses are accessible to those on low incomes, however if you would find the cost prohibitive please write to secretary@beshara.org to enquire about reduced course fees or bursary possibilities.

...an intensive, enjoyable, and deeply satisfying opportunity to consider one’s life and purpose in the light of extraordinary and illuminating mystical texts.
