This intensive retreat course, held within the tranquil surroundings of Chisholme House, will be a unique opportunity to enter more deeply into the practice and experience of prayer and meditation. The general aim will be to come more and more into being present and aware, as fully as possible. The framework of the course will be based on Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi’s remarkable prayers for the week (Wird/Awrad), translated into English as The Seven Days of the Heart. Apart from study periods devoted to the original text (knowledge of some Arabic helpful but not required) and guided meditations every day, the retreat will be conducted in complete silence.

‘Silence’ here also means being free from the common distractions of everyday life (no computers, phones, books etc), so that there can be as complete an immersion in the course as possible.

Places on the course is limited to a maximum of 20, and those interested are asked to complete an application form before a place can be confirmed.

This course will be led by Stephen Hirtenstein and Alison Yiangou.

Timetable: The course will start with supper at 7.00pm on Friday 21st and finish at 11am on Sunday 30th. Detailed daily timetable will be given out at the start of the course.

Accommodation: This course is residential. 

Location: The location is Chisholme House, set on a beautiful estate in the moors of the Scottish Borders, an hour from Edinburgh, Newcastle and Carlisle.

Cost: £450 (including all accommodation and meals). A concessionary rate of £382.50 (15% discount) can be offered to those on low incomes. For information about further concessions and bursaries please write to secretary@beshara.org
